Carolyn Goodman Chisholm Black, 80, of Delhi, La., passed away surrounded by her loving family at her cherished lake home following a lengthy battle against cancer.

A native of Memphis, Tenn., she lived her adult life in Louisiana and Alabama. Carolyn was a devout Christian whose faith and belief in God touched the lives of many.

Known affectionately as “Nanny” by her grandchildren, Carolyn loved her time with her grandkids and family.

Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Wesley Goodman and Lena Mae Cheshier Goodman; and her first husband, William Earl Chisholm.

She is survived by her husband, Charles A. “Buddy” Black of Delhi, La.; two children, Luanne Chisholm Peterson (Troy) of Gulf Shores and William Christopher Chisholm (Sarah) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two grandchildren, Abby Danielle Farmer Barrett (William) and Jordan Christopher Farmer; three stepdaughters, Debbie Wilbanks (Delbert), Sandy Black and Jamie Burnside (Gaylen); six step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; a brother, the Rev. Jimmy Goodman of Delhi, La.; three sisters, Katherine Pleasants of Delhi, La., Lou Carson of Memphis, Tenn. and Eva Payne of Alexandria, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 at Cox Funeral Home of Delhi, with the Rev. Scottie Gray and the Rev. W.H. “Bucky” Curry officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday from noon until time of the services.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at 3 p.m., at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.

Any planned memorials should be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
