Carolyn Lee Borne “Keigh” Hartdegen, 75, of Fairhope, died Saturday, April 30, 2011 surrounded by her loving children.

Her warm and generous spirit inspired the lives of everyone she met; her humor brought smiles and joy to all. Her family was her passion; the Alabama Crimson Tide and the New Orleans Saints her “pride and joy” and her sense of compassion was the gift she shared with the world.

Born Oct. 4, 1935 in New Orleans, La., to Adelard F. and Leonie Bonnet Borne, she lived in the area until 1968 when she and her family moved to Birmingham and in 1978 to Oxford, Ala. After brief residences in Columbus, Ohio, and Alpharetta, Ga., she moved to Fairhope in 2000.

Survivors include four children, Pamela Hartdegen (Mark) Lindsay of Frisco, Texas, Brian (Candy) Hartdegen of Oxford, Ala., Stephen A. Hartdegen of Dallas, Ga., and Cherilyn M. Hartdegen of Fairhope; nine grandchildren, Michelle Lindsay, Matthew and Joshua Hartdegen of Oxford, Christopher, Alyse, Brianna, Rachel, Jacob and Noah Hartdegen of Dallas, Ga.; three brothers, Ronald F. Borne of Oxford, Miss., Alan B. Borne of Apopka, Fla., and Barry M. Borne of Mandeville, La.; the father of her children, Stanford A. (Darlo) Hartdegen of Talledega.

Visitation begins at noon Thursday, May 5 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope with funeral services at 1 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Private graveside services will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
