Carolyn Ruth Jackson Walter, a native of Miami and a former resident of Daphne, died May 16, 2010.

She moved to Daphne in 1954 when she married Robert Sidney Walter. They lived there until 1966 when he took an overseas job and they moved to England and Argentina. They subsequently lived in Alaska, Singapore, and Houston,.

She enjoyed both indoor and outdoor activities including gardening, farming, cooking, painting, quilting, crocheting. She took great comfort in her faith in God and set an example for her children and those she met.

After a brief illness, she died of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, with her family surrounding her.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Robert Walter of Houston; three children, Debbie Stuart and Nancye Thibodeau, both of Houston, and Todd (Doris) Walter; three grandchildren, Jennifer Stuart, Terry Thibodeau and Katelyn Stuart Barnhart; one great-granddaughter, Reese Thibodeau.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
