John Will Carroll, 81, died Monday, Nov. 19. He grew up in Gadsden and spent his adult life in Birmingham.
He was a graduate of Gordon Military Academy, and an alumni and devoted fan of the University of Alabama. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II.
He retired from Lawyers Co-operative Publishing Company after 38 years of service.
Happily retired in Gulf Shores for the past 16 years, he was a devoted family man, avid golfer and a faithful member of the Gulf Shores Methodist Church.
He and his loving wife gave themselves to better the community they loved by delivering meals on wheels, volunteering help at area festivals as well as other humble an anonymous activities.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Dean Carroll of Gulf Shores; daughter, Dr. Jenifer Carroll (Fred) Brewer of Birmingham; three sons, John Will (Susan) Carroll Jr. of Nashville, Tenn., Mark Roper Carroll of Foley, and Timothy Carl Carroll of Birmingham; sister, Nina Carroll Clinard of Gadsden; grandson, Weston Brewer of Birmingham; grandson, Paul Carroll, Nashville, Tenn.; granddaughter, Jessica Comer of Nashville, Tenn., two nieces, one nephew, relatives Tom and Gail Roper of Gadsden, Chick Carroll of Birmingham, and several special cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23 at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church.
