James H. “Jim” Carter, 67, a native of Austin, Texas, and a resident of Loxley, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010.
He served in the U.S. Navy, retired from Vulcan Aluminum, Foley, and enjoyed raising chickens and studying genetics.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Bettie G. Carter of Loxley; three sons, John David (Charlene) arter of Springfield, Mo., James Scott (Emily) Carter and Joseph Shane (Lori) Carter of Loxley; three sisters, Shirley Vick and Mary Mitchell, both of Dallas, and Margie Gottwald of Alvin, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 18 at Mack Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 19 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bob Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Silverhill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are John Ray Owens, Gary Merchant, Arthur Yoas, Jimmy Lord, John Gardner and Rock LaCoste.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northcase Parkway Suite 1, Marietta, GA 30067.
