Floyd Edward Cary, born Aug. 8, 1931 in Yuma Tenn., died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008.

He grew up in Bruceton, Tenn., and graduated from Central High School. He attended UT Martin for a short time and felt the call to serve his country.

He joined the Air Force and served around the world. He served five years at Ladd Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska, as crew chief for Air Rescue Helicopters. After leaving the Air Force he continued his education, receiving a degree in Industrial Engineering at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tenn.

He always had an entrepreneurial spirit. He was successful at everything he did. He owned and operated a trucking company for 15 years.

He and his wife traveled the world the past few years and danced the night away many times. They lived to the fullest and enjoyed their church and all their friends. He loved his fruit trees and sharing fruit with his family back in Tennessee.

He comes from a rich heritage of Cary’s. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley M. Cary of Yuma, Tenn., and his parents, Adrian and Lois Cary, of Bruceton, Tenn.

Survivors include his wife Carol Cary of Fairhope; two sisters, Willodean (Hugh) Thomas of Bruceton, Tenn.; Jane (Wayne) Hall of Camden, Tenn., one brother, Wesley (Becky) Cary of Holladay, Tenn.; three daughters, Lynne Cary of Fairhope; Kimberly Barnes, and Kathryn (Terry) Crawley, all of Mobile; three grandchildren Victoria, Philip, and Priscilla Barnes, all of Mobile; four step children, Kathy (John) Estadt of Germantown, Tenn.; Jan (Steve) Johnson of Emmaus, Pa.; Steve (Peggy) Whipple of Columbia, Mo., and Di (Mark) Kroplin of West Milton, Ohio; and nine step-grandchildren ages 15-21.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Fairhope.

Burial will follow at Farnville Cemetery at Yuma, Tenn.
