FAIRHOPE, Alabama—An audio-visual program titled "Nudists, Nuts, Commies and Klanners" will be presented at the weekly Thursday Tea for Two at the Fairhope Museum of History.

Local author and historian Cathy Donelson, who is writing a book on the Roaring ‘20s in Fairhope, will present the 2 p.m., Aug. 9, program on that controversial and racy decade of bohemians, cross-burnings and rum-running in town and across America.

Author of "Fairhope," part of an Images of America series, she also wrote "Mobile: Sunbelt Center of Opportunity" for the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce and contributed to "Made of Alabama Clay" published by the University of South Alabama.  That book focused on her family's historic pottery in Montrose.

A former director of Fort Morgan National Historic Landmark, she also was director of the Marietta Johnson Museum in Fairhope.

She served as historian of a city of Fairhope project which added the downtown district to the National Register of Historic Places and continues to work on historic preservation projects.

As staff member of the Alabama Historical Commission, she has published numerous brochures, four national award-winning slide programs and several books for the State of Alabama, such as "Alabama's Tapestry of Historic Places" and "Alabama's Antebellum Architecture," among others.

The researcher and writer also has worked as an investigative reporter on the staffs of the Press-Register and Montgomery Advertiser newspapers and has been a correspondent for the New York Times, Newsweek and Reuters International news service.

The $2 donation for the programs and teas benefits the Friends of the Museum.
