CECIL EUGENE SMITH

Cecil Eugene Smith, born March 22, 1932 in Caledonia, Miss., died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008.

He lived much of his young life in Spanish Fort. He served in the Army; After the closure of Brookley Field he and his wife moved the family to San Antonio and he continued his career as a civil servant at Kelly AFB. His career allowed opportunities to travel the world and he and his family lived in Germany and Taiwan before returning to San Antonio where he retired from civil service in 1981.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marie Sheffield Smith; daughter, Carla Smith and her family, Judy and Cody; son Terry (Mary Anne) Smith, their sons, Joshua and Matthew; sisters, Grace Nelson and Gloria Hodges; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 26 from the chapel of Mission Park North. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
