Cecil M. Ward, 85, a native and lifelong resident of Baldwin County, passed away Monday, Sept. 8, 2014.
He had a successful career as an entrepreneur, starting several businesses, including a dairy, an egg farm and a construction contracting company.
He was also active in many civic and community organizations, including two terms as a county commissioner, and board positions at Baldwin EMC and Baldwin Enhanced 911.
He enjoyed traveling, passing time outdoors in his beloved garden and spending time with his family.
Always willing to help someone else, he will be missed by those he knew and touched.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Arden; four children, Donald (Sheila) Ward, Vicki (Charles) Vacarella, Douglas Ward and Terri (Hank) Howell; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014 at Fairhope Christian Church.
Visitation will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Fairhope Christian Church.
