Celebrating Valentine's

Central Baldwin's three senior groups celebrated Valentine's Day leading up to the day of love, Friday, Feb. 14. On Wednesday, Feb. 12, both the Loxley Civic Center and George P. Thames Senior Center in Robertsdale celebrated Valentine's Day. Loxley held an appreciation luncheon for its senior group with spaghetti and meatballs, along with salad and bread prepared by Loxley's senior activities director Berle Allen, activities director Tina Harris and other volunteers. There was no formal program, but Martha Phillips read and original poem about Valentine's Day. In Robertsdale, the senior center celebrated Valentine's Day during its monthly birthday bash luncheon, which is held the second Wednesday of every month. Hot dogs and sides were served. Entertainment and karaoke were provided for members. Silverhill seniors also celebrated Valentine's Day during its monthly luncheon, which is held the second Thursday of every month at the Silverhill Community Center. Pasta and meat sauce was served along with a variety of pot-luck salads and sides. All three venues offered a variety of sweet treats for their members in celebration of the annual day of love.
