ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce hosted its second luncheon May 11 for first responders titled Honoring Our Heroes at the PZK Civic Center in Robertsdale.

About 80 first responders, including Sheriff Hoss Mack and deputies from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department, fire officials, EMA, EMT and police department officials, including six police chiefs from throughout Baldwin County, attended the event, said Chamber Executive Director Gail Quezada.

“This is a way for us to honor those who serve, not just in Central Baldwin, but for the entire area,” she said.

After hosting the first event during the week of 9/11 in 2014, Quezada said it was decided that they would postpone that date to coincide with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department’s Officers Memorial, which is held in May to honor officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

The annual event is held as part of Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Week. Wind Creek Casino & Hotel, Atmore was the presenting sponsor for the event. Diamond sponsors were LA BBQ, Cash Saver and the City of Robertsdale; Gold sponsors: Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Lee Drug Store, Workshops, Etc! and Riviera Utilities; Silver sponsors: Town of Silverhill and Goo Roo’s Grill.
