SUMMERDALE, Ala. — Our founding fathers had a core set of values and beliefs they relied on when creating the Constitution and the declaration of Independence. And one of those beliefs centered around God and prayer.
And because prayer was an integral part of how they made governmental decisions, our country has carried on that tradition in the form of prayer breakfasts to set aside a time to pray for those in leadership positions.
On Thursday, May 5 at 6:45 a.m. at Baldwin EMC’s Training Center on Hwy. 59 in Summerdale, business, community and local government leaders will come together for some breakfast, prayer and words of wisdom.
This is the seventh year the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce has sponsored the breakfast and tickets are $12 a person or $96 for a table of eight, said Jamie Mangion, chamber director of operations.
Army National Guardsman Captain Jason Mann will be this year’s speaker and will share about his experiences in Afghanistan during a yearlong deployment that ended in October, 2010. Mann currently is the Youth and Education Minister at Bethel Baptist Church in Robertsdale.
Other sponsors for the event include: Presenting Sponsor; Baldwin EMC, Diamond Sponsor ($500), Riviera Utilities and Terry Thompson Chevrolet. Other sponsorships available are Gold Sponsor ($250), Silver Sponsor and Bronze Sponsor ($100 and only available for churches and non-profits only).
