DAPHNE, Ala. — Three Central Baldwin Middle School students, Gage McKenzie, alto saxophone, George Williams, trombone, and Shawn Tedder, tuba, participated in the Baldwin County Middle and High School All County Honor Band on January 11 at Daphne High School.
Held at Trojan Hall beginning at 7 p.m. and sponsored by Lulu’s Homeport Marina in Gulf Shores and the Baldwin County Board of Education, the program featured middle and high school students from all over the county who auditioned on December 1 at Foley Middle School.
Dr. Thomas Fraschillo was the guest conductor for high school band and has been in the music/teaching profession for 43 years. Considered an international musician/scholar, Fraschillo has recorded, published, conducted and lectured all over the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia and is the past president of the American Bandmasters association and past president of the National Band Association.
Directing for the middle school band, Don Snowden is no stranger to Baldwin County as he directed Foley High School Band for several years and is currently the Department Head, Director of Bands and Assistant Professor at Pensacola Junior College. He is also director of the Pensacola Civic Band and has been playing trombone with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra for 31 years. He serves as Immediate Past President of the Association of Concert Bands.
There were also 15 Robertsdale High School students taking part in the program including: Delena Quick, flute, Victoria Clark and James Presley, clarinet, Brandon Laird, alto saxophone, Lauren Burch, tenor saxophone, Gabby Kendrick and James McKinney, french horn, Augustine Briones and Roben Campbell, trumpet, Weesie Jeffords and Eric Mackey, trombone, Alex Tedder, tuba, Chelsea Dawkins, Josh Holley and Bryant Ramey, percussion.
