ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Central Christian School senior Justine Crotts signed to play volleyball for the University of Mobile Rams on Thursday.
Crotts, who played varsity volleyball for her mother Renee Crotts at CCS and played for Lacey Powell's Pleasure Island Volleyball Club, chose Mobile over several other interested schools.
"I looked at a lot of schools and I always found the right coach but not the right team, or the right team and not the right school," she said. "This time it actually came together and I found all the right things with Mobile."
Renee coached Justine for seven years at CCS. She said her daughter's decision had been a long time in the making.
"We have been praying about this for years," Renee Crotts said. "We figured that God would open and close doors. Mobile was originally not on the top of the list, but we just kept praying about it and she fell in love with the coaches and the team. Then God made it work financially."
Justine will play for Jon and Amber Campbell at Mobile.
"She is a Godly girl," Amber Campbell said. "She is going to bring a lot to the court, but on top of that, her character and her academics make her a strong all around player."
Justine plans to major in biology and minor in chemistry. She will play setter for the Rams, who are members of the Southern States Athletic Conference in NAIA Division 1.
"Very, very exciting," she said. "I can't even put it into words. I have always dreamed about it and now it is coming true."
