Kennard Balme
If you have driven by the museum in the last day or two, you probably noticed Drew Williams, Eagle Scout candidate, and his group of Scout helpers clearing vines, brush, old logs and trash from a parcel of property bordering the museum's cemetery. This is a Service project for Drew to complete his eligibility for Eagle Scout, the highest rank a Scout may reach.
I'd like to quote from the BSA's website:
The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.
For nearly a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through nearly a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.
And Drew is hard at work fulfilling the Scout's mission! Thanks for your help and stay cool in the heat.
