(BPT) - Our nation’s growing obesity problem is creating a new reality for health care. As obesity rates rise, risk of obesity-related health problems increases as well. Yet many health care facilities are ill-prepared to deliver safe, dignified and cost-effective care to larger patients. For the patients they treat, a new survey shows time in the hospital often includes an emotional toll spared their lighter-weight peers.
