Chamber seeking poster artists

GULF SHORES, Ala. — The Alabama Gulf Coast Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking artists to submit original artwork for consideration in the 38th annual National Shrimp Festival poster contest.

This year’s Shrimp Festival will be held Oct. 8-11 in Gulf Shores.

The winning design will become the official 38th annual National Shrimp Festival poster and becomes the official design for all Festival merchandise. The selected artist will receive $1,000.

If under the age of 18, artist must have parents’ signature on contract to receive prize money.

Criteria for poster consideration include that the poster theme be about art, food and music. The words “38th annual National Shrimp Festival” and “2009” must be included in artwork and actual size of poster should not exceed 18 inches horizontal by 24 inches vertical. Artists may only submit one piece of original artwork.
