Charles H. Higdon

Charles H. Higdon, 91, a native of Alabama and resident of Lillian, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014.

Mr. Higdon was a United States Army veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He served in the Battle of the Bulge, the Normandy Invasion, was shot and wounded in the Korean Conflict and was a former military instructor at Fort Benning.

Mr. Higdon was the owner of several restaurants, including an IHOP, and former owner of a Travelodge.

He was deputy mayor of Mobile for 20 years, past master of the Crewe of Columbus in Mobile, and always was a helping hand to the needy.

Mr. Higdon is survived by his nephew, Philip (Stephanie) Rentfro of Atlanta, Ga.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
