Charles J. "Spot" Morse, our beloved father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away on Oct. 25, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family after a long and hard fought battle with cancer.
"Spot" was born in Baldwin County and resided in Summerdale, Alabama for the majority of his life. He was loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
He had the good fortune of many lifelong friends, whom he treasured. There will be a forever hole in our hearts without him in our daily lives, but gratitude fills our hearts for having been a part of his.
He was always entertaining and had a generous, loving heart. He was good at everything he set out to do. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and his friends.
Spot served in the Army and in Vietnam from 1968-1970. He married Carolyn Snasel, whom he was married to for 20 years, and together they had one daughter, Shannon, who was the light of his life.
He worked at the Alabama State Docks for 12 years before realizing his calling in life to be in the restaurant business, which he continued up until last summer. Spot owned and managed three restaurants over the last 35 years and was excellent at it.
He was preceded in death by parents, Louis and Ruth Morse; sister, Louise Brock; brother, Leon Morse; half-sisters and half-brothers, Novena Floyd, Verdie Harrington, Vina Wenzel, Irma Davis, Wilson Morse, Carter Morse and L D Morse; and is survived by daughter, Shannon (Brandon) Carlson of Summerdale, Alabama; two sisters, Mary (Roy) Jones of Malone, Florida, Lynette Dubuisson of Summerdale, Alabama; and three grandchildren, Christopher, Madison and Meghan Carlson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Mack Funeral Home.
Visitations will be held Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Friday from 1 until 2 p.m.
