Charles Kerry Mitchum, 57, born in Roanoke and a resident of Loxley, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at USA Medical Center.

He was a police officer previously for the Greenville Police Department and Bay Minette Police Department, and was currently employed at the Loxley Police Department.

He was a member of the Robertsdale Masonic Lodge 821, AL043 Fraternal Order of Police Baldwin County Lodge and was the treasurer for the Kodosh Masonic Riding Association.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Marie (Mitchel) Williams of Stapleton; his son, Jarrod Keith Mitchum of Stapleton; the mother of his children, Gaye Mitchum Pitts of Stapleton; two grandchildren, Colby Hays Williams and Alyssa Nicole Williams; two brothers, Tommy (Helen) Mitchum of Roanoke and Bobby (Armanda) Mitchum of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Connie (Alan) Workman of Roanoke; eight nieces and seven nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, B.J. and Catherine Mitchum; and two brothers, Benny Mitchum and Donny Mitchum.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at 2 p.m., at the Loxley Civic Center with the Rev. George Weaver and Police Chief Chip Cason officiating.

Burial will follow at Stapleton Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the service at the Loxley Civic Center.

Pallbearers will be Larry Moore, Alan Welborn, Stewart Mitchum, Kevin Mitchum, Perry Mitchum, Rick Workman, Keith Mitchum and Larry Morris.
