Charles P. “C.P.” Meszaros, 85, a native of Elberta and a resident of Gulf Shores, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.
Mr. Meszaros’ parents, Joseph Meszaros and Anna Gaspar were descendants from Hungary and C P. was the last survivor of six children.
He was a WWII veteran, having served in the United States Army.
He loved owning and operating a large skating rink in Raleigh, N.C. and being the owner of the Plantation Restaurant in Charleston, S.C.
In recent years, he was a cook for numerous restaurants in Baldwin and Mobile counties.
He loved to fish, especially floundering, and he retired as a tugboat cook.
Mr. Meszaros was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Bowman Meszaros.
He is survived by his caretaker niece and nephew, Betty and Hollis Byrd of Gulf Shores and their children; and other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at 2 p.m., at Shell Banks Baptist Church, with the Rev. Barry Hughes officiating.
Burial will be in Shell Banks Cemetery in Gulf Shores.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
