David Deese Chatwood Sr., 64, died peacefully Thursday, March 26, 2010 at his Mobile residence.

He was a graduate of Fairhope High School where he excelled in athletics and was named All American and proceeded to play football at the University of Alabama where he played on two of the national championship football teams, he had the opportunity of playing in the Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl, and Cotton Bowl under Coach Paul "Bear" Byrant.

He was working for Mobile Asphalt. He was an avid outsdoorsman throughout his life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and Alabama football with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, D.T. Chatwood Sr., and his mother, Mary Sue Chatwood.

Survivors include his loving companion, Linda Hoppe; and her family, Betsy Dykes, Shane Dykes and Ashley Burke; son, Deese (Kim) Chatwood Jr. of Fairhope; granddaughter, Mai Mai Chatwood of Fairhope; brother, Dan T. Chatwood Jr., niece Rachel Chatwood; newphew, Daniel Chatwood; other family and many friends.

Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with funeral services at 3 p.m. sunday, March 28 at at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Fairhope High School Athletic Department or Fairhope High School Football, 1 Pirate Drive, Fairhope, AL 36532.
