Chi Chapter Alpha Delta Kappa 2012 Scholarships

Chi Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa recently awarded scholarships to two Daphne High School (DHS) 2012 Graduates, Alex J. Lang and Rachael Nix. Alex Lang will major in music education at the University of South Alabama. He was an accomplished musician at Daphne High School where he played in the DHS Marching Band, DHS Symphonic and Jazz Band. Lang also earned a place in the All County Symphonic Band, All State Jazz Band, and was 1st chair Trombone for the Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra. He also earned the honor of playing with the University of Southern Mississippi Wind Ensemble. Lang. Lang participated in numerous other activities including the Student Government Association, Scholars, Bow, Key Club, Superintendents’ Student Advisory Committee, All County Track, and Hi-Q Participant.

Rachael Nix will major Early Childhood Education in at the University of Alabama. She also distinguished her self at DHS, earning the freshmen Leadership Award, English 9 Honors Award, English 10 Honors Award, and Junior Algebra II/Statistics Award. Nix has maintained all “A” Honor Roll during her Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years.

The annual competitive scholarship is open to any Baldwin County Graduate who is plans to major in education and completes the application. Each spring the applications are available in the high school counselors’ offices.

Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary sorority for educators, is united in the common goals of educational excellence, altruism, and world wide understanding.
