Elvira Marie Zodda Chiccarelli, 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, after a brief illness.

A native of New York, she resided in Florida for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She trained as a cadet nurse, which was part of the U.S. Public Health Service during World War II. A flag will be flown in her name over the Women's Memorial in Washington, D.C.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fortunato Chiccarelli. 

Survivors include four children, Lucille (Gregory) Kennedy, Dr. Elvira Chiccarelli, Nancy (John P.) Thompson and Stephen Chicarelli; three grandchildren, Sean Kennedy, Bridget Kennedy and Elvira Chiccarelli; two brothers, Victor Zodda and Rudolph Zodda; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8 at Michael Higgins Funeral Service in New City, N.Y.  Mass of Christian burial begins at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Nanuet, N.Y.  Interment will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
