DAPHNE, Ala. — The Keeping Kids Safe Project by S.I.P. Kids will host events on Sept. 10 and 11 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Eastern Shore Toyota in Daphne.
The purpose of the event is to provide safety information to families, as well as free digital fingerprinting and photos for all children who attend. The organization invites all local organizations to educate children and their families on how to avoid unsafe situations.
“So many children are reported missing each day in the U.S. Police officials say that time is crucial in the recovery of missing children. One major problem that costs precious time is gathering current photographs, fingerprints and statistical information to assist law enforcement agencies,” S.I.P. Kids said in a statement.
There will be free face painting, balloons, cookies and juice inside the showroom at the Toyota dealership for the public to enjoy.
The two-day event averages around 250 kids, lead event coordinator Jacki Powers said. There’s no limit to the amount of kids who can attend. There’s also no age limit. S.I.P. Kids travels nationally, bringing the event to around 50 cities, Powers said.
“Our goal is to provide as much safety information to families as we can,” Powers said. “We also want to demonstrate the different enforcement agencies that families are provided.”
