John Lewis Childress Sr., 72, a native of Barnwell, and a resident of Orange Beach, died Monday, April 6, 2009 at his residence.
Survivors include a son, John L. Childress Jr. of Fairhope; two daughters, Cathy Johnson of Orange Beach and Karen Hartley of Mobile; five brothers, Walter Childress of Barnwell, Tommy Childress of Fairhope, Ricky Childress of Stapleton, Mike Childress of Lillian and Benny Childress of Gulf Shores; four sisters, Grace Wayand of Hartselle, Betty Beadnell of Salinsville, Ohio, Carolyn Parnell of Waynesboro, Miss., and Susie Green of Selma; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation and funeral services were held Wednesday, April 8 from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. Interment followed at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
