Julius E. Childress, 75, a native and lifelong resident of Robertsdale, died Sunday, June 8, 2008.

He was a former officer of the Baldwin County Cattlemen's Association, a former board member of Federal Land Bank and was on the Board of Trustees at Robertsdale High School. He also served i the U.S. Army and was a farmer and cattleman.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lois Taylor Childress of Robertsdale; daughters, Julie (Charlie) Fincher of Loxley and Gina (Hoke) Smith of Millbrook; son, Steve (Cara) Childress of Robertsdale; sister, Doris (Jimmy) Stapleton of Robertsdale; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 11 at Robertsdale First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Copeland officiating. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Loxley.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Robertsdale First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1140, Robertsdale, AL 36567 or to Greenwood Cemetery Fund, 14750 Co. Rd. 66, Loxley, AL 36551.
