William Gordon “Heavy” Childress Sr. died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at a local hospital.
He was a self employed farmer and shrimper.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Jean Childress of Fairhope; two sons, William “Billy” Gordon (Isreal Abiles) Childress Jr. of Secaucus, N.J., and Brian Kelly Childress of Fairhope; six daughters, Kimberly Kay Childress of Fairhope; Jamie Marie (Steve) Comalander of Mt. Vernon, Marcie Lynn (Jimmy) Payne of Silverhill, Tammy Howell of Fairhope, Sherrie (James) Henderson of Fairhope and Charlene Fuller of Fairhope; sister, Elizabeth Ann (Richard) Ward of Farihope; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a special thanks to Curtis E. "Chris" Childress Jr.. Without your gift of life we would have lost our beloved husband, father and grandfather long ago.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, from funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Brook-Cedron Cemetery.
