SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Holiday happenings abound in Spanish Fort this weekend, especially if you are partial to choral concerts.

But first, shoppers on a budget need look no further than the Gathering Place Saturday, when Spanish Fort United Methodist Church hosts its “Giant Toy Sale” from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Bargain hunters — especially those helping St. Nick lighten his load — will find gently used children’s toys, games, DVDs and books among other treasures. All proceeds will benefit the church’s youth ministry and community missions.

Melinda Fowler of Spanish Fort said the toy sale will be her first stop in a jam-packed day.

“I’ve got 12 nieces and nephews, and I’m still in school, so this is exactly what I need to check everybody off my list,” Fowler said.

Meanwhile, the SFUMC children’s department will present “Joyful Noise,” the ministry’s annual Christmas concert at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Of course, the Methodists won’t be the only ones making their voices heard.

Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church’s Sanctuary Choir will present “One Incredible Moment” during Sunday’s 11 a.m. service.
