The Christian Service Center of Gulf Shores proudly announces the Holy Spirit Thrift Shop as their Presenting Sponsor of the upcoming Feb. 21, CSC Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser.

The $20,000 donation, raised by the sale of one bargain-priced thrift shop item at a time, is the largest singular Spaghetti Dinner sponsorship donation in the 10-year history of the CSC Spaghetti Dinner.

Since opening their doors in 1991 the Christian Service Center, and all volunteer staffed emergency aid and food pantry nonprofit agency, has assisted more than 40,000 residents, including 18,500 local children. The Holy Spirit Thrift Shop donation enables the CSC to provide personalized emergency aid to more than 150 local families.

Since the Holy Spirit Thrift Shop opened in August 2007 as an outreach ministry of the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, both organizations have worked closely together to help local families recover from disasters such as fire, domestic violence relocation, illness or unemployment.

Both organizations are staffed 100% by volunteers and both organizations are supported by donations from individuals and churches in addition to Holy Spirit Episcopal Church.

Holy Spirit is no ordinary thrift shop. Generous donors with big hearts supply top of the line gently used clothing, shoes, kitchen and household items, books, games and furniture for the smart shoppers looking for a big selection at great prices.

The increasingly popular thrift shop for both shoppers and volunteers is located at 6798A Alabama 59 in Gulf Shores. The store offers a wide appeal to shoppers who may be frugal, live on a limited income, are ecology-minded or those with unusual tastes.

Holy Spirits' all-volunteer staff of 50 plus, enjoy discovering their daily donated surprises and thrift shop's door is currently open to area residents and snow birds looking for good-time volunteer fun for a worthy cause

This year's Feb. 21 Spaghetti Dinner location is at the new Gulf Shores United Methodist Church Connections building at 1900 Gulf Shores Parkway in Gulf Shores. Diners will also enjoy the bonus of hearing the lively dulcimer music by the Jubilee Pickers. For more information call the CSC office at 251-968-5256 or Holy Spirit Thrift Shop at 251-968-2797.
