Christian William “Bill” Nissler, 87, died May 18, 2011.

He was born on Aug. 27, 1923 in Philadelphia to Christian William Nissler, a well known chest surgeon, and Anna Nissler. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in engineering.

After serving with the U.S. Navy on a submarine during World War II, he worked in civilian life with General Electric in Louisville, Ky., as a project manager for Dunn Construction in Birmingham and an estimator and project manager for Stuart Contracting Company, Inc. in Bay Minette. He was a loyal employee of Stuart Contracting for over 30 years, working in estimating and project management.

He was a life-long Episcopalian and a member of Immanuel Episcopal Church where he served as Senior Warden, and his last years were spent in John McClure Snook Center in Daphne and Oakwood Nursing Home in Bay Minette.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Betty Kelly Nissler; and sister, Betty Nissler Black.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 29 at Immanuel Episcopal Church, Bay Minette.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Immanuel Episcopal Church.
