Christmas Bazaar is Nov. 16 in Bay Minette

Posted

After a busy week at the Senior Center, we ended the month Sept. 28, beginning at 5 p.m., with a social hour with old-fashioned hamburgers and trimmings.

Delicious Herb! We appreciated Councilman Tony Edwards dropping by so we could sing Happy Birthday to him. Then everyone settled in for movie-of-the-month, “Crazy in Alabama.”

Viewers kind of thinned out early on. This is not the way most Alabamians want to remember Alabama. Thankful to be raised in this area of Alabama and our memories. Our hometown is where I want to be. Let you know what November movie-of-the-month is next week.

Hope you made it to the monthly Bay Minette Area Senior Citizens Organization meeting Tuesday. It seems every week is busy at the Senior Center with computer classes, exercise, games, Bridge class, Art classes (watercolor and oil). Drop by the Senior Center and get your October calendar and join us on Thursday at 2 p.m. for game-time. Let that be the beginning of good time with the old-timers.

October is a month filled with action. Leaves falling, football, hunting preparation, lot of talk, thoughts of holiday season ahead. Don’t forget the Christmas Bazaar (what happened to Senior Fall Festival?) at the Senior Center. This will be Friday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bring your handwork and show it off. Deadline for space at the Senior Center is Oct. 9. Ann Fisher, Art Instructor will be at the Senior Center from 9 a.m. to noon each Friday for Art Classes and is in charge of the Bazaar.

Also, monthly Flip/Flop Book Club will be Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. with brownbaggers at 12:30 p.m. Book-of-the-month is Fannie Flagg’s latest book, “Can’t Wait to Get to Heaven.” It’s different and gets better and by page 80, you are really into it. Fannie even has questions for discussion at the end and some good recipes. So read the book and join us, if you want to share your opinions on the questions and let us know if you tried one of the recipes. Also, help us on selecting the book-of-the-month for November.

Don’t forget Senior Pot Luck on Oct. 10 at noon. Bring a dish or just make a contribution, just don’t miss the fun. Bingo follows. Bring a friend with you.

So come and join in on the fun, stop by and pick up a calendar, you’re always welcome at the Senior Center.

Thought for the week: The bridges you cross before you come to them are over rivers that aren’t there.

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118: 24.

May God bless you and keep you until we meet again!
