Roman Street is an energetic band born and raised in Mobile, dabbling in the arts of “new” flamenco, smooth and not-so-smooth jazz and its own brand of fusion style music with a youthful and spontaneous approach to musical expression. Roman Street will play a Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13 and Friday, Dec. 14 at the Performance Center on the campus of USA Baldwin County.
Josh Thompson, classical guitar, and Noah Thompson, bass guitar, are brothers who grew up playing together before forming Roman Street. The other member of Roman Street is Dan Brett who plays the drums and percussion. The band members are internationally trained and seek to incorporate their travels and experiences into their musical expression.
The music appeals to all audiences, young and old, alike. The band strives to be a breath of fresh air compared to the many cover-bands saturating the modern music scene.
Students, faculty and staff are invited to bring their family to a memorable two-hour concert packed with music that will get everyone ready for the holidays. Roman Street's Christmas Project, 'Christmas Rhumba', will be celebrating its first anniversary of release and has been enjoyed by thousands since Dec. 2011.
Christopher and Melody Duncan, a brother-sister acoustic group from Mobile, will open the evening at 7 p.m. and the concert will provide a great additional event to the Baldwin County Campus over the holiday break. The concert is open to the public and University of South Alabama students receive a discount with a student I.D.
Tickets are limited. Get your ticket at Brown Paper Tickets, (rsChristmas.brownpapertickets.com) or find links at romanstreet.com, Roman Street Christmas Concert at USA Baldwin County. Feel free to enjoy coffee, cider, and exchange Holiday wishes with the band in the courtyard after the performance.
