Christopher Berryman Martin, age 66, a resident of Fairhope, Ala., died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015.
In 1971, he graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., where he was the editor of the college newspaper. He worked as a reporter, photojournalist, editor and publisher for newspapers in Virginia, North Carolina and Kentucky, and as an activist for the Libertarian Party.
He volunteered for Planned Parenthood, Amnesty International and the Byrd Park Civic League. He was a leading light in the Richmond, Va. stand-up comedy scene.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, H.C. and Easter Martin.
He is survived by his sister, Hilary Martin (Cary Bean) of Fairhope; aunt, Kay Britto (Nelson) of Wrightsville Beach, N.C.; nephews, Ben Martin-Bean (Madhu) of Dayton, Ohio and Max Martin-Bean (Audrey) of Wilmington, N.C.
A memorial service will be held in Richmond in late spring.
