Citizens should chose their leaders carefully

We are witnessing a breakdown of civility.

The democratic political party is obviously waging a no-holds-barred campaign to maintain power, even at the unfortunate cost of their self-respect.

From the president down to the union members he has allied, the rhetoric has become insulting to say the least — and dangerous.

Citizen, I ask you: When did the belief in a limited and less intrusive government, personal accountability and lower taxes become the enemy of the American people?

Why do we need multiple layers of civil servants to govern the same things such as education and environment, safety, energy and business?

Why not a more local and accountable government described by the one document that affords each citizen common ground, the American Constitution.

The answer is easy, the Constitution was written to limit the power to a ruling class.

To maintain the power of government to the people. We will rarely find the answer in our politicians; we must find the answer in ourselves and reject the idea that “the government” is our help, our source, or patron. We must seize power from the power hungry and give power to those who want to serve as citizens, not sovereigns.
