City of Gulf Shores announces closures in honor of Independence Day

In honor of Independence Day, the City of Gulf Shores will have the following facility closures and changes to regular hours of operations:

* Gulf Shores Police Department, Gulf Shores Fire Rescue, and other emergency services will remain open to ensure public safety and health. 

* Administrative offices for the City of Gulf Shores will be closed Monday, July 5. Regular operations will resume Tuesday, July 6, at 8 a.m.

* The Thomas B. Norton Public Library will be closed Monday, July 5. Regular operations will resume Tuesday, July 6.

* The Gulf Shores Museum will be closed from Saturday, July 3, through Monday, July 5. Regular operation hours will resume Tuesday, July 6. 

* The Bodenhamer Recreation Center will be closed Sunday, July 4. Regular operations will resume Monday, July 5. The Cultural Center remains closed at this time. 

* The George C. Meyer Tennis Center will be closed Monday, July 5. Courts will be open and available for public use. Regular operation hours will resume Tuesday, July 6.

* Republic Services Garbage and Recycling Services will run as scheduled. Yard debris/bulky pickup will run as expected.

* The City Store will be closed Monday, July 5. Regular operations will resume Tuesday, July 6.

As you celebrate Independence Day, please remember: 

* The sale or use of fireworks within the city's corporate limits or police jurisdiction is strictly prohibited. 

* Cooking with propane and or charcoal on decks, under, or within 10 feet of multifamily dwellings or combustible structures is prohibited.

* Open fires on the beach or in public areas are strictly prohibited.
