GULF SHORES, Ala – The City of Gulf Shores will host its annual Community Cookout on Feb. 8 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. The Community Cookout benefits Relay for Life and will be held at the Sims Park Pavilion located on West 3rd Street in Gulf Shores.
This year’s cookout will offer sausage dogs and burgers complete with all the trimmings. Sausage dogs and burgers are $5 while a meal with chips and a drink are $7.
“As a cancer survivor, Relay for Life hits close to home for me,” said Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft. “Everyone in our community has probably been affected by cancer in some way and the importance of continued cancer research can’t be stressed enough. This event is our way of helping to increase awareness in our community and our way of showing support for Relay for Life.”
Anyone interested in placing orders for the Community Cookout can do so by fax at 251-968-4459, by email to twaters@gulfshoresal.gov or by stopping by City Hall before 9:00 a.m. on February 7.
“Our team will be making deliveries on orders of five or more for any groups who may not be able to make it to the cookout,” said Relay for Life Co-Captain, Brandan Franklin. “All delivery orders must be placed in advance and deliveries will be made between 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.”
All proceeds from the Community Cookout will be donated to Relay for Life. For more information regarding this event, contact Tobi Waters at 251-968-1124.
