FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Fairhope Mayor Tim Kant proclaimed the week beginning Oct. 6 as Fire Prevention Week in Fairhope.
Members of the city of Fairhope Volunteer Fire Department attended the City Council meeting on Sept. 22 to accept the proclamation and to announce the activities planned for National Fire Prevention Week.
In celebration, personnel from the fire department will visit more than 10 local school and daycares to educate students and children about the importance of smoke detectors, having a fire escape plan at home and what they can do to prevent home fires.
