GULF SHORES, Ala. — The city of Gulf Shores is currently under a hurricane watch. Hurricane Ida is projected to be in the northern Gulf of Mexico by tomorrow evening with winds of 100 mph.
City officials are recommending a voluntary evacuation of all persons living in all low-lying areas of Gulf Shores to include the beach front, Fort Morgan, Plash Island and anyone living in mobile homes and campgrounds.
Floods typically occur in these areas which prevent people from leaving and preventing emergency personnel from responding. Persons living in the affected areas are urged to complete their preparations and evacuate these areas by noon on Monday as conditions are expected to deteriorate throughout the day. Mayor Robert Craft urges citizens to monitor the storm and take appropriate action if necessary.
