Round 2 Game 3 recap: Baldwin County 6, Robertsdale 4
ROBERTSDALE— Baldwin County High claimed a 6-4, Game three win over No. 10 Robertsdale (28-13) in their Class 6A second-round playoff series Saturday at Kevin Raley Field.
Bailey Emmons led the Tigers from the mound with six strong innings. He scattered eight RHS hits, walked one batter and struck out one.
"Bailey Emmons just battled on the mound,” said Baldwin County coach Kyle Hunter. “Going into this weekend, I knew that Bailey was going to have to show his maturity for us like he did the second half of the season. Our kids fought hard and never quit. What every athlete wants in their career is to have a story and these guys are writing their story right now. I couldn't be prouder of them. This was a total team win."
Chase Overstreet closed out the final inning for the Tigers to get his second save.
The two teams split the opening doubleheader in their best-of-three series on Friday. RHS won the opener 2-1. BCHS won the nightcap 8-4
Baldwin County was led at the plate by Dylan Brunson with a single and a solo home run; Brett Buck had a single and a double; Chett Phillips added two singles and a double; Luke Smith had a two-run double and a single; Dalton Coleman had an RBI single and Michael Thompson had a bunt single.
The Golden Bears were led at the plate by Zach Mosley with two singles and an RBI and Trevor Davis with two singles. Robertsdale coach Peter Bezeredi said his team never gave up, but it came down to one final game and the Tigers got the win.
"The storyline of the game is that Baldwin County put four runs up in the first innings and we never recovered. My guys never quit, but Baldwin County just beat us today. We had our chances but Baldwin County made the plays when they needed to. You have to tip your hat to them."
