DAPHNE, Ala.—Do you know someone who shined when they went to high school in Daphne?
Do you know of anyone who has been a huge success since they left Daphne High?
Did they discover something important? Maybe invent something useful?
Have they made significant contributions to the community, like starting a scholarship fund for underprivileged students?
Daphne High wants to recognize its former students’ achievements as the school is looking for 20 nominees to induct into its Hall of Fame class of 2009.
Nomination forms—which can be picked up in the school office or downloaded at www.daphnehs.com—are now being accepted. Deadline for submission is Monday.
The alumni recognition program, in its second year, honors notable graduates from 1990-2000 who excelled during their high school careers in the fields of athletics, academics or the arts.
However, it’s not just for former students.
Daphne High teachers, administrators and coaches from any period in the school’s history are also eligible for induction.
Community members who made significant contributions to the school may be nominated as associate members.
Selection of former students is based on achievements and abilities demonstrated during their tenure at Daphne High; community service before and after graduation is also considered.
The Hall of Fame class of 2009 will be announced Sept. 10 at a gala dinner in Trojan Hall at Daphne High; new members will be introduced during the pre-game show Sept. 11 when the Trojans battle Satsuma High at Jubilee Stadium.
Last year’s nominees represented all areas of the Daphne High experience, including academics, athletics, Reserve Officer Training Corps, fine arts, teacher and staff members as well as volunteers.
