SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Spanish Fort will observe its annual “Tidy the City” cleanup effort May 1-3 in front of City Hall.
During Monday’s regular City Council meeting, Mayor Joe Bonner said the annual event is designed to coincide with “spring cleaning” and encourages local residents to conveniently dispose of larger items they would not normally place on the side of the road for pickup such as couches or bulkier work shed items.
Three dumpsters will be made available for the three-day event, and the only items excluded from disposal are household garbage, tires and hazardous chemicals.
The council also recognized Dr. Barry Booth for his “tireless” contributions to the South Alabama Chapter of the Honor Flight Network and designated May 6 as South Alabama Honor Flight Day in the city of Spanish Fort.
