FOLEY, Ala. — A public hearing on Club Evolution’s business license has been set for Tuesday, May 4, 2010, according to a notice by the City of Foley.
The hearing will be held in council chambers at Foley City Hall at 5 p.m.
Mayor John Koniar said earlier this week that the public hearing would not be held prior to convening a city council meeting, which is typically the case with public hearings. Koniar said the Club Evolution matter will likely produce considerable public comments, so the public hearing will be a “separate, stand-alone” matter.
A regularly scheduled meeting of the city council will be held on Monday, May 3.
Club Evolution was at the heart of a recent “last call for alcohol” ordinance passed by the city to combat what Foley Police Department has said is a growing number of DUIs annually. An undercover operation in March at the club has allegedly produced evidence of underage drinking, non-compliance with the “last call” ordinance and open sexual activity by club members.
