Coastal Alabama Community College sees record enrollment growth

Coastal Alabama Community College has recorded a 17% enrollment increase, making it the second fastest growing community college in Alabama according to a news release.

The college, which consistently ranks among the top three largest community colleges in the state, serves six counties in southwest Alabama.

Under the leadership of President Aaron Milner, Coastal Alabama has pursued new opportunities to support student success, a focus that is drawing attention across the region.

“’Stagnant’ will never be associated with Coastal Alabama,” Milner said in the release. “We are creating a culture that students want to be associated with, and we are proud of the results so far.”

Enrollment has steadily increased over the past two years, but this fall saw the largest gains in all categories, including first-time freshmen, dual enrollment, returning students and transfer students. Per the release, on-campus courses and online offerings have expanded to meet the growing demand.

“I’ve never seen an enrollment increase like this,” said Dr. Dendy Moseley, dean of student services. “It truly takes the whole college working together to impact students and to change lives, and their efforts are reflected in these historical numbers.”

The college has introduced new academic programs, athletic opportunities, and student engagement initiatives this year. A redesigned advising model now guides students from enrollment through graduation, ensuring more comprehensive support.

“There is no other college in the state that has the opportunity we have to impact students’ lives,” Milner said, referring to the large geographic area Coastal Alabama serves. “We take our mission seriously, and I could not be more proud of the passion and dedication of our employees.”
