GULF SHORES, Ala. — Coastal Living magazine recognized the Gulf Shores Steamer as one of the Southeast’s Best Seafood Dives in their May 2009 issue. The top-rated magazine says to expect “gigantic servings of steamed seafood.” The article said, “The vast combination platters (steamed only; nothing’s fried here) can easily feed a family.”
Ashley Ouellette, daughter of the original owner of the Gulf Shores Steamer and co-owner with her husband, Jeff Price, said, “I’m really happy to be able to carry on the tradition of offering the freshest seafood on the Gulf Coast.” Ouellette continued, saying, “Besides excellent food, we have the best staff in the area who make all this possible. Our kitchen staff, servers and managers are top notch and help create a warm, casual, inviting atmosphere for everyone.”
The restaurant, whose motto has always been “No Fried,” specializes in fresh steamed and grilled seafood, including royal red shrimp, snow crab legs, mussels and oysters. They also have an ever-changing selection of grilled fish, along with grilled steaks and chicken for the land lubbers.
Gulf Shores Steamer has been featured in such magazines and daily newspapers as USA Today, Southern Living, Coastal Living, Houston Chronicle and the New Orleans Times Picayune.
The “Steamer,” as it’s known by the locals, is the only steamed seafood house in Gulf Shores voted "Heart Smart” by Pensacola’s Sacred Heart Hospital.
Since 1989, the Gulf Shores Steamer has been serving up the area’s best steamed and grilled seafood in a casual, coastal atmosphere.
