LOXLEY, Ala. — Two people were arrested Tuesday, Dec. 15 around 5 p.m. on Interstate 10 in Loxley.
According to a release from the police department, an officer stopped to check on, “… what appeared to be a stranded motorist on Interstate 10 eastbound near the 51 mile marker.” The vehicloe was a 2002 Chevy Suburban.
According to the release, the vehicle was occupied by Jose Tamez and Sonia Tamez. Baldwin County Corrections Center records say the father-and-daughter pair are from Alamo, Texas.
The release says the officer was suspicious of the Tamezes actions and started searching the vehicle. While the officer had a K-9 officer with him on the search, Lt. Doug Phillips of the Loxley Police Department says the human officer found about two ounces of cocaine in the vehicle.
The pair were arrested, and are in the BCCC on charges of drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. Bail for Jose Tamez is set at $100,5000 and at $30,000 for Sonia Tamez.
