Col. Michael Pettiss Juvenal, retired decorated Army veteran, left his earthly home and departed to his last duty station, his eternal Heavenly home on July 7, 2014.
He was preceded in death by mother, Virginia Pettiss; and father, Harry Jacob Juvenal.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jaqueline LePine Juvenal; son, Michael R. Juvenal; daughter, Merrilee J. Hicks; two wonderful grandchildren, Dustin and Kayse; and many other family members and friends.
Michael was born in Babson Park, Fla. and grew up in Mobile until age 14.
He attended the New York Military Academy in Cornwall, N.Y. and in 1952 graduated from the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.
Michael proudly served in the United States Army for 28 years. Col. Juvenal was presented with the Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Purple Heart.
During his retirement years Michael enjoyed developing his skills as a stained glass artist, spending time at his home on the Magnolia River and listening to his Dixieland music.
Most notably, he created beautiful stained glass windows for St. Margaret’s Church in Foley and St. John’s Church in Magnolia Springs.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 195 E. Berry Ave. in Foley at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014.
