The sign at the beach in Gulf Shores may scream holiday welcome with its season decorations, but Wednesday at the beach was a chilly proposition.

“I went to look for some shells, but there weren’t any,” he said.
Evans and his wife, Mary, had been visiting Florida and stopped for a night in Gulf Shores before continuing on their trip home.
“It was too cold to stay on the beach,” said Mary, who sought refuge in the couple’s van before Curt’s rush off the beach. “But we’re going where it’s colder.”
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will be a little warmer today, reaching the 60s with light breezes. Temperatures should remain in the 60s through Sunday.
Rain’s chances of dampening the weekend’s holiday happenings are 20 percent on Saturday and Sunday.
The big news Sunday will be the wind which should be out of the north at 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. The winds will still be gusting up to 25 mph Sunday night as the temperature drops to near 30..
Some blustery cold will return on Monday when the temperature will struggle to reach 50 and dip into the 20s on Monday night.
By Wednesday, temperatures in the 60s will return.
