DAPHNE — Flying performers, Asian elephants and clowns can only mean one thing: the circus is coming to town.

The Cole Brothers Circus of the Stars stops in Daphne Wednesday and Thursday at the Al Trione Sports Complex. They will perform two shows each day, at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

“We’ve been to Daphne before and we were received pretty well,” marketing director Mario Vitali said of their decision to perform in the Jubilee City.

“I don’t want to give everything away, but we have a lot to offer, something for everyone of all ages,” Vitali said of the performances.

The DeLand, Fla.-based circus comprises entertainers from around the world — including Brazil, Bulgaria, Russia, Chile and Mexico, Vitali said.

“Each one of them is a star in their own right,” Vitali said, referring to the “Circus of the Stars” theme.

The circus also includes the Thunderdome — a globed cage with three motorcyclists riding around inside — and a human cannonball; the performer reaches about 65 mph, Vitali said.

The public is invited to watch the crew raise the big top, according to Vitali.

“It’s a show in itself,” Vitali said of assembling the circus and putting everything together.

The 50-man crew will start putting up the tent at about 7 a.m. and finish around noon, according to Vitali.

“It’s best to come around 8 a.m. or 9 a.m.,” Vitali said.
