Sydney Lee Combs, 66, died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at her home in Lillian after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born March 24, 1944 in Salt Lake City and moved to this area in 1980.
She was a strong, caring person, willing to help anyone that asked. She worked within the healthcare industry for many years, retiring in 2007. She was an avid fan/supporter of Auburn University. She had an unconditional love for her horses, dogs and wildlife. She enjoyed landscaping, gardening and all of nature’s offerings. She worked with organizations and legislatures to bring more awareness to pancreatic cancer.
She was a beloved wife, loving mother and wonderful grandmother.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Precord.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Rick Combs; two daughters, Melanie (Dennis) Thomas of Hillman, Mich., and Charlene Lingenfelter of Foley; son, Robert Morris of Plainwell, Mich.; and three grandchildren, Bailee Thomas, Johnnielynn Precord and Zachery Morris.
At her request, no memorial service will be held.
She donated her remains to the Anatomical Donor Program at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, hoping to help others with this terrible disease.
